Celebrating Summer 2019 Interns
YouthForce Internship Summer 2019 is finished, and now we have a chance to truly celebrate the talented young people and partners who made this summer such a success.
Last week, students, families, and partners gathered at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre to recognize the YouthForce Internship summer 2019 cohort. We would like to extend a special thanks to speakers:
Josh Cox, City of New Orleans
Leah Brown, Chevron Gulf of Mexico
Ethan Ashley, Orleans Parish School Board Member
Shannon Joseph, Ochsner Health System
Interns Winter (Intern at Audubon Fertility, Student at McDonogh 35) and Brandon (Intern at Sewerage and Water Board, Student at Eleanor McMain)
As YouthForce NOLA President Cate Swinburn shared during the Closing Ceremony, the program is designed to facilitate growth in essential career skills, including soft skills and business etiquette, as well as professional connections. After 150 cumulative hours of career-readiness training and meaningful work experience, we celebrate tangible, terrific examples of that growth. Interns have completed major projects, networked with colleagues, and practiced their soft skills. The future is bright for New Orleans -- we should all be proud of our New Orleans public school students for their achievements.
YouthForce NOLA would like to extend one last, super special shoutout to all of the employer (90 companies!), school (19 high schools!), and funder partners who collaborated to make this summer possible. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our funders including:
The City of New Orleans
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana
Chevron Gulf of Mexico
United Way of Southeast Louisiana
We are proud of every member of the YouthForce Internship Cohort of Summer 2019. We can’t wait to see what you do next! Check out a few more highlights below:
