Role overview

YouthForce NOLA is currently seeking to hire a Project Assistant to help ensure the success of YouthForce Internship (YFI) for Summer 2019.  The Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting the YFI team as they prepare for and oversee training and internships for ~250 YouthForce interns.  The Project Assistant should be extremely detail-oriented and results driven. The Project Assistant must be a high school graduate and special priority will be given to graduates of YFN Partner and Affiliate Schools and to YouthForce Internship alumni. The structure of this position is unique in that the schedule will vary throughout the program, for a total of ~350 hours from mid/late April to early August with flexible start and end dates.

Details about the position

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support with planning and execution of training sessions and workshops, including materials inventory/ordering, spreadsheet creation/set up, preparing intern binders and name tags, technology organization/testing, etc.

  • Support team of ten YFI coaches to prep for professionalism training sessions

  • Assist with daily data entry, including attendance tracking

  • Support event planning (e.g. Meet & Greet, Mock Networking, Leadership Lunch, Panels, Closing Ceremony, etc.)

  • Work collaboratively with the YouthForce team on various administrative tasks and support duties as assigned

  • Attend selected YFI team meetings during training

  • Provide support and guidance to high school interns throughout their training

  • Conduct oneself professionally and serve as a role model for high school interns participating in the YFI program

Required Key Experience & Strengths:

  • High school graduate (college students encouraged to apply, but not a requirement)

  • Extremely detail-oriented

  • Flexibility, able to tend to issues that arise on the same day

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Ability to organize and meet deadlines

  • Ability to accept feedback in a professional and mature manner

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Docs, and other commonly used software

Job Details:

  • Reports to: YFI Program Manager

  • Pay rate:  $12/hr

    • Monthly Transit Pass provided if needed

    • Lunch provided during training

  • Classification: Part-time/Nonexempt

  • Hours: ~350 total over 3 months

  • Dates:

    • Onboarding: mid/late April

    • Part time: throughout April and May

    • Full time: starting May 20th

    • Project Assistant must be available throughout YFI training: May 28 - June 20

  • Location:

    • Mid/Late April - May 24: YouthForce NOLA offices, 625 Celeste Street, 3rd Floor

    • May 28 - June 20: Pan-American Life Center, 601 Poydras Street, 11th Floor

    • June 21 - Early August: YouthForce NOLA offices, 625 Celeste Street, 3rd Floor
