ECONOMIC PROSPERITY, TOGETHER
Soft skills prepare students for the rigor of a 21st century workplace, but they also improve a student’s academic outcomes. To improve soft skills awareness and integration in schools, we have endeavored on two major programs:
Soft Skills Community of Practice
Our Soft Skills Community of Practice (SSCOP) brings together education leaders from 25 schools across Orlean Parish to discuss and share best practices around school-wide soft skills integration.
Soft Skills Teacher Fellowship
The Soft Skills Teacher Fellowship (SSTF) trains and supports teams of teachers at various public schools across New Orleans, so they can better integrate and share the importance of soft skills in their classrooms. Teams of teachers work with us over the course of the year to gain a better understanding and successfully execute soft skills into their curricula.
To build out capacity, share best practices, and foster relationships, YouthForce NOLA is proud to coordinate a series of workshops annually for school staff and educators. These workshops bring in experts, both nationally and regionally, and ideas on how best to implement expand capacity around course progression and credentials in schools.
We bring teachers into the work environments of our high-wage, high-demand career pathways, so they can learn about what kinds of careers await their students, and which skills will be the most important for success.
