2019 - 2020 Orleans Parish Carl Perkins Consortium Request for Perkins Budgets, CATE Data, and Planned Enrollment

Introduction

Federal Carl D. Perkins funding is intended to be expended on costs associated with preparing students for high- wage, high-growth occupations and to support links between secondary and post-secondary education, industry, and community partners.

Orleans Parish charter schools can elect to be part of the Orleans Parish Carl Perkins Consortium. Participation in the Consortium requires active opt-in. The Orleans Parish Carl Perkins Consortium is guided by a review committee made up of members from the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB), economic development partners, and YouthForce NOLA. YouthForce NOLA also acts as the fiscal agent for the grant.

The Orleans Parish Carl Perkins Consortium Review Committee has released this Request for Budgets & Plans for Carl D. Perkins funding for the 2019-20 school year. In 2019-2020, Carl D. Perkins funding will be specifically utilized to support participating schools to develop and implement career pathways programs of study and to expand programming that culminates in students’ earning basic and advanced statewide industry-recognized, and industry-based, credentials (IBCs). Supported programs must focus on at least one high-wage, high-demand career pathway program of study that culminates in students’ ability to earn a statewide basic or advanced credential. In Orleans, the approved Perkins priority skill clusters (aka career clusters) are: skilled crafts, digital media/ IT, and health sciences.
